Need antother shot?

If you golf like me, sometimes you need a mulligan. A mulligan is a do over. It's not technically allowed in proper golf however, it is an unspoken rule among friends. Basically this means that if you shank a ball you can have a do over and hit another.

It would be nice to have a mulligan in life sometimes. We all have had those moments that we wish we could have back. Moments where it was obvious that we were being thoughtless or careless. Moments that, if we were honest, we are pretty ashamed of.

What if I told you that there is a mulligan, of sorts, for all those times that we messed up? You can have a chance to be free of guilt and shame for those moments in life when you know that you were wrong. How? You and I can through the grace of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This isn't really a mulligan, its much better; if we are ready to hear the truth. Are you ready?

The truth is that there is a good God that had a good design for the world and for us- but humanity rebelled. We read about this in the Bible in Genesis 3:1-7. In this bad beginning, humanity started a sin snowball that overtakes each and every person born. The Bible points out that no one escapes this. We are sinners by nature and by choice and that sin separates from a real connection with God just like it did for Adam and Eve. The Bible puts it this way, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Unfortunately, the consequences of sin are way worse than a less than perfect golf score. Again the Bible tells us the hard truth, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus." (Romans 6:23) So how do we get this "do over"?

It's a gift, eternal life through Christ Jesus. In Christ we can have the grace that covers every sin. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins." (Ephesians 1:7) Christ's atoning work on the cross made it possible for sinners to have another chance.

We get this chance by faith. The Bible again tells us, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved." (Romans 10:9-10) Confessing is not simply confessing facts. To confess that "Jesus is Lord" is to surrender your life to Him. If you are confessing that He is Lord then you are acknowledging that you are a sinner and that you have no hope of Heaven or eternal life without Him. You are confessing Him as master over your life and leaving everything that displeases Him behind.

The great news is that you do not have to wait to confess Christ and trust in Him. You can do that anytime and anywhere. If you need help or have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to us! You can email our pastor at anthony@bhbc.us
